The Latest Thing 'After Dark' - Putting on the Ritz Figurine, 1999
A striking piece of late 1990s British collectible artistry, this mannequin figurine is part of The Latest Thing "After Dark" series. One of the most beloved fashion figurine collections of its era. Entitled "Putting on the Ritz," it draws its inspiration from the glamour of 1920s evening dress, reimagined through the lens of 1990s collectible design.
The figurine depicts a headless fashion mannequin form draped in a richly textured deep red gown with an asymmetric one-shoulder silhouette. A gold-tone chain strap adorns the shoulder, whilst a column of gold-tone bow embellishments runs down the front of the dress, adding a sense of theatrical elegance. The gown pools and drapes dramatically at the hem, and the figure stands on a stepped, Art Deco-inspired bronze-tone base.
Designed by artist Stacy Bayne and produced by Collectible World Studios Limited, this piece was handmade and hand-painted in England in 1999. The base carries the original maker's mark, confirming its authentic provenance.
